Hamad International Airport launches sleep pods

Get some shut eye ahead of an early morning flight

Hamad International Airport launches sleep pods

There are two types of people in this world - those who get to the airport on time (three hours early for international, two hours for short haul), and lunatics.

If you fall into the former category, you’ll have spent many an hour nursing a coffee at an unspeakable time, dreaming of your bed.

But luckily for you, Hamad International Airport has just launched the perfect solution: sleep pods.

You’ll be able to rent them out by the hour, ensuring you get some shut-eye that doesn’t end with you missing the in-flight meal and suffering from a crick in the neck.

There are a few options available, including FlexiSuite Pods, which have a single bed, YAWN Double Cabins, with a double bed inside, and YAWN Bunk Cabins, which have a bunk bed.

The sleep ‘n fly lounge, located in the main duty free and transit area of the airport, is open to online bookings and walk-in customers.

Rates start from US$29 for a two-hour slot.

Errol McGlothan, managing director at Airport Dimensions said, “The sleep pods and cabins provide a convenient, premium and safe space for travellers looking to recharge during a long layover or enjoy a quick nap before an early morning flight.

“We’re looking forward to working with the airport to further enhance the travel experience for passengers.”
