Doha Metro and Lusail Tram reveals new safety measures

The Doha Metro and Lusail Tram team has revealed a number of new safety measures ahead of its reopening on September 1.

The metro was shut down for several months as part of precautionary measures to stop the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Qatar, but will soon be back in action.

Its reopening is part of Phase Four of lockdown easements, and will coincide with beauty parlours, gyms and pools welcoming customers again.

To facilitate a safe resumption of services, Doha Metro and Lusail Tram has installed thermal temperature scanners to ensure nobody with a fever, one of the main COVID-19 symptoms, uses public transport.

Plus, 300 hand sanitisers have been installed across the network, as well as 18,000 social distancing markers to make sure passengers stay the correct distance apart from each other.

Metro staff are receiving extra training, and all customer touch points will be regularly sanitised.
