Qatar launches mental health support for residents

The Ministry of Public Health in Qatar along with Hamad Medical Corporation and PHCC has just launched a helpline for those who want to speak to a mental health professional.

The initiative aims to help people overcome the psychological impact resulting from the spread of COVID-19.

For those experiencing stress and anxiety as a result of the current pandemic, they are encouraged to call the helpline on 16000.

You can speak to a healthcare professional from 7am to 10pm daily.

The helpline is staffed by a team of mental health professionals who can provide assessment and support to callers from four main categories: children and parents, adults, older people and healthcare workers.

The helpline is available daily and all you have to do is call 16000. Choose your language of choice and select 3 for HMC. Then proceed to select 1 for HMC Urgent Consultation.

Qatar has also recently launched a WhatsApp helpline.
