Qatar Museums is set to launch a number of workshops and tours on Airbnb experiences.
You can now book cultural activities through the rental platform and learn more about the city and its history.
Currently there are a number of experiences on offer, all taking place at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA).
First up is the learn calligraphy class, where you’ll learn all about Islamic calligraphy and its association with geometric Islamic art and the arabesque form.
Plus, you can also learn about the building’s design and the world-renowned architect I.M. Pei, as well as how the art of illumination affects museum’s spaces.
And if you’re interested in the history of Islamic art, there’s a tour focusing on that, too, which takes visitors through the museum’s permanent collection.
Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, chairperson of Qatar Museums, said, “Through Airbnb Experiences, Qatar Museums invites the wider community and regional and international visitors to Qatar to expand their cultural horizons by exploring the rich artistic tapestry of our country.
“Much can also be learned about our history and influences by exploring the architecture throughout the city.
“We encourage members of the community to join us in serving as local ambassadors of Qatar by hosting their own Airbnb Experiences that showcase their distinctive hobbies.
“Each of our individual passions contributes to our collective cultural identity and this is an amazing opportunity to showcase these to as many as possible and provide the community and visitors to Qatar with a truly immersive experience.”
There are plenty of other experiences, including an afternoon tea at Jiwan, and there are more on the way. In the coming months, Airbnb Experiences will launch at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, the National Museum of Qatar, IDAM, the Public Art Department and the Division of Cultural Heritage.
