Qatar Summer Festival in full swing

Top news for all seasonal staycationers

In top news for all seasonal staycationers, Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has just launched the Qatar Summer Festival (QSF) and the fantastic news for residents is the festival doubles in length this year. The extended QSF will run from Eid Al Fitr to Eid Al Adha.

Participate in over 100 activities this time around. Some headlines will be Arabic music from Nawal Al Kuwaitiya and the Mindsports World Championships between August 19 and 27. Expected to attract more than a thousand enthusiasts and experts from around the world, mindsports championships pit players in games such as chess and Scrabble as they compete for a $200,000 prize.

Best of all, there will be malls full of shopping discounts across Doha. Discounts of up to 50 percent are offered and anybody spending more than QR200 at participating outlets will be entered into a draw to win a stack of cash or even a luxury car.

QTA has partnered with Discover Qatar, Qatar Airways Holidays’ destination management company to offer discounted travel packages. Visitors to Qatar during the festival can take advantage of a range of accommodation offers when booking through WeGo.

Mashal Shahbik, Director of Festivals and Tourism Events at QTA, comments of the improvements: “The incidence of both Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha during the summer months this year created the perfect opportunity for us to merge the Eid Celebrations in Qatar and Qatar Summer Festival into a continuous, two-month long festival.”
