There is an exciting and new art exhibition with regional artists’ work on show at the Grand Hyatt, named The Corridor. There is an eclectic range of art to look at and for sale, including pictures of exploding pomegranates, portraits, koi carps, camels, landmarks and many more. 19 artists from 17 different countries show the varying styles and influences of the exhibition.

A special suhoor

IDAM by Alain Ducasse has created something special for suhoor. The restaurant, located in the Museum of Islamic Art, is allowing us to indulge in an Arabian and international feast. A large mezze selection (including snails), a choice of soups, the signature cookpot to share and chicken or hammour for main course are just some of the dishes on offer. There are also Arabic and international desserts.

Ramadan family workshop

Children aged 4-15 can enjoy traditional Arabic music and have a hands-on approach, getting into the spirit of Ramadan. All nationalities are very welcome as you can learn more about the Holy Month traditions. QR150. 8pm-11pm.

With more free time during Ramadan, it could be time to try something different. And Bulgarian Folk Dance classes could be just your thing, headed up by Velislava Metodieva. The balcony bar at the Hilton Hotel has had a revamp and is now in an air conditioned tent so the summer months can be enjoyed again. Throughout Ramadan, you can use it as an ideal after-iftar spot to continue to chat with friends and have Ramadan drinks in a luxurious and different setting. After Ramadan, normal service resumes.

Two exhibitions from Qatar Museums will be ending this week, so this is your last chance to have a look if you haven’t done so already. Exhibition 555, at the old fire station, will be running until July 14. Iraqi artists Dia Azzawi and Ismail Azzan are on show. Fire Station, Wadi Al Sail, www.firestation.org.qa. Colouring figures

As part of ongoing Ramadan events for children, there are colouring workshops where children aged 4-15 are encouraged to draw typical Ramadan décor and create Ramadan patterns. It is for all children and families are welcome as well.

Enjoy iftar or/and suhoor for the last time during Ramadan before Eid. There are so many places to try, so our suggestion is to go to one of the tents featured in this month’s edition. The yellow-celled organisms have life ambitions to serve cruel masters, but find themselves with no one to serve. So Kevin, Stuart and Bob set off in search for something to do in life. They meet super villain Scarlet Overkill and go back in time to Mod London, 1960s New York and frozen Antarctica, all to save Minionkind from annihilation.

Terminator Genisys

Yes, there’s a new Terminator movie out, and Arnie is back! This time he fights the T-1000 again and another version of his own model, the T-800. This is all with the purpose of saving Sarah Connor’s life as her son John is the only one who can stop Judgment Day. The only problem this time, however, is that John Connor has been captured by the machines and sent back in time to destroy any hope of salvation – by killing his own mother. This promises to be a good watch.

Meet Elmo

One of Sesame Street’s most iconic characters, Elmo will be flying all the way from America to make toddlers laugh and smile in Doha. He will be at the QNCC for five days, doing one show at 5pm and one show at 8pm, lasting approximately 90 minutes each. He will also be making a special visit on July 16 to the FNAC store at Lagoona Mall at the kids’ section.

Splash and dash

Swimming lessons for kids

Ant Man

Ant-Man is a marvel in more than one way. The Marvel comic character is larger than life, but shrunk to the size of an ant to enable him to have super-human strength. Ant-Man Lang manages to protect the secret of his special Ant-Man suit designed by Dr Pym and, of course, in the meantime, saves the world as he battles Yellowjacket, a wasp sized super villain.

The Latin American chain of restaurant has opened at the Marsa Malaz Kempinski and first signs are very promising that the restaurant will add a new dining dimension to the city. With Peruvian, Argentinian, Colombian and other favourites available, and a trendy bar and vibe, this is something a bit different. So grab the bull by the horns and give it a try.
Have an A1 night

A1 Nights is one of the most popular music nights on the Doha calendar. It’s a hip-hop and RnB extravaganza, with resident and international DJs and some weeks an international artist performs. The exact itinerary for this evening has not been announced, but whether there is a special act or not, it is bound to get the city rocking. Prices vary from QR100-150 entry for men, free for ladies before 11pm or midnight.
