What’s new in Doha

Take a free museum audio tour
Have you ever visited a cultural spot and just wished you had a tour guide with you? We have several times. And in case you’re visiting Doha for a quick trip or are a resident and haven’t been to Msheireb Museums in Msheireb yet, you’ll be happy to learn the Museums have launched a new smartphone application to guide you through the four revived historic heritage houses.

The new application features an array of digital services to enhance the visitors’ experience while discovering the history and culture of Msheireb and Qatar.

Developed by Msheireb Museums, the application is an innovative and easy way to explore each of the four houses using the geolocation technology to provide the first ever digital audio tour feature in Qatar. With a digital positioning system covering every corner at the Museums, the tour allows visitors to hear audio narrations and explanations as they move around, so you have the complete freedom
to manage your own tour at your pace and make the best
of this experience.

The other benefit is, of course, minimising the consumption of printed materials. The entire downtown project is fully sustainable, in case you didn’t know. The application boasts an array of other options including location and wayfinding from any place in Qatar, notifications and alerts on upcoming events and workshops as they become available and social media sharing.

Schools and groups can also now book their special tours via the new reservation options.

And anyone who wants to use the Museum facilities for events, workshops, exhibitions or meetings can now register using the Rent feature included in the mobile application. The feature is accessible only at the venue.
Free. Available in English and Arabic for Android and iOS.

The brand-new Al Messila, A Luxury Collection Resort and Spa, part of the Marriott International’s luxury portfolio, is set to open this fall. It’s right in the middle of the city in a gated, private palace-style setting.
