We’ve seen the amount of rubbish on our beautiful, local beaches and we can finally do something about it. Add a fun session of scuba diving and that’s all you need for a great weekend.
The Doha Environmental Action Project (DEAP) and Sora Marine Training, in conjunction with Nomadik Hub, have teamed up to launch “Scuba Dive with a purpose” to raise awareness of the environmental damage caused by litter on the beach and in the sea. You’ll be part of a collective of volunteers of different nationalities and cultures, all coming together with a common environmental goal of cleaning Maroona beach and its waters.
Sora Marine Training and Nomadik Hub will provide free introductory scuba diving sessions to a limited number of clean-up volunteers in recognition of their weekly efforts to restore the natural beauty of Qatar’s beaches. This will provide the ability to clean up underwater, too, which DEAP has lacked in the past.
Once you’re done, kick back with your new friends on the beach around the campfire and have a great time barbecuing.
Here’s a quick look at the agenda:
10am – Meeting at Dairy Queen (C Ring)
10.30am – Departure
11.45am – Arrival at the beach
12pm – Beach clean-up and scuba diving discovery sessions (six groups)
4pm – Barbecue and campfire.
