It would be fair to say that when Grant King arrived in Doha, he was less than impressed with the state of the health and fitness industry. After encountering a lack of expertise and inexperienced trainers, he and his wife Elena decided to take matters into their own hands.
Now with two more members of their team – all with backgrounds as military personel and with long lists of fitness qualifications – they’re on a mission to make getting fit as challenging and rewarding as it can be.
Classes take place both outdoors and indoors, at the Sheraton Park and at their studio up on the 55th floor of Palm Tower in West Bay (so you can work out in front of panoramic views of the city, which really doesn’t hurt, does it?). They have developed a bib system, too, so you don’t need to worry about things being too advanced. You can work your way up from yellow (beginner) to green (intermediate) and black (advanced) at your own pace.
But these guys don’t sugar coat things. If you’re serious about getting in shape, they aren’t about to go easy on you. They’ve been through even tougher training – and recount plenty of anecdotes when we meet them at their studio – so they know exactly what people are capable of, and aren’t afraid push you to your absolute limit.
After all, you don’t sign up to something called Bootcamp Military Fitness expecting an easy ride. Which isn’t to say that you won’t love their sessions. The community atmosphere is truly unbeatable, the kind of place where you make friends, and everyone there cheers each other on. And though they might shout at you a bit, Grant and his team understand how important support, enthusiasm and motivation are to the success of everyone who walks in the door.
Each session is different – so you won’t get bored, either – and incorporates everything from rowing machines to tyres to good old fashioned burpees. Plus, they offer comprehensive, bespoke nutrition and training plans to give you an all-encompassing approach to revolutionising your lifestyle.
