Doha skincare tips

With sun, sand and humidity, the Doha climate can take its toll. Be protected

Take care
We all know the Middle East is a hot and sunny place to live, and while this climate is good for vitamin D intake, it’s not always so good for the skin. It’s sensible to cover up, avoid the midday sun and to wear a sunhat.

Wear suncream
Suncream should be used daily and put on at least 20 minutes before going in the sun.

“We highly recommend SPF50 for the Middle Eastern sunny climate, along with light moisturisers and rose mist to keep your skin refreshed and hydrated,” say Pallavi Patil, the Spa Manager at Spa by Clarins, at Marsa Malaz Kempinski.

“Your face is the one area of your body that is almost always exposed to the outside elements including wind and sun. To keep your face looking young and jubilant, you need to take care of your face. Monthly facials will help slow the aging process, too.

“Your skin will be healthier, more resilient, smoother and more radiant. Age spots and fine lines diminish with cell turnover and collagen production increased. The ageing process is slowed with regular exfoliation and the penetration of vital skin nutrients. One can look younger with a radiant, firm, well-nourished and hydrated skin.”

Drink water
Staying hydrated is key. Make sure you drink plenty of water, and it’s recommended you drink two litres a day.

Experts at the Anatara Spa, Banana Island Resort by Anantara, add: “Proper hydration is necessary for good health. While our hydration needs can be met by drinking other beverages, drinking water provides a healthy, calorie-free and sugar-free option.”

Don’t neglect your body
Body exfoliation and bath soaks will help keep the skin clean and hydrated as well as soothed and refreshed. It’s not just your face, you need to protect your body, too.

Try a treatment…
Need a boost after too much tanning? The Even Skin Protector at Spa by Clarins aims to clear an uneven complexion and restore sun-damaged skin. It helps to minimise the look of dark spots, brighten darker areas and revive the skin’s natural luminosity.
