Qatar to host Swimming World Cup fifth round next year

Doha will host the competition in October 2021

Qatar will host the fifth round of the Swimming World Cup next year, it has been announced.

Doha will stage the competition between October 21 and October 23, 2021, following rounds in Singapore, Jinan in China, Berlin in Germany and Budapest in Hungary.

The final will take place in Kazan, Russia, and around QR9.1 million (US$2.5 million) will be distributed in prize money during the final.

Each round will take place in 25 m pools, and the competition will act as the qualifying events for the postponed FINA World Swimming Championships 25m between December 13 and December 18, 2021.

The International Swimming Federation (FINA) recently postponed the 2020 competitions to ensure the safety of the athletes and all stakeholders involved during the coronavirus pandemic.

Outdoor swimming pools reopened in Doha in the middle of July as part of the phased lifting of restrictions throughout the country.
