If you’re bored of the usual tennis lessons and swimming sessions, here’s a new sport to try. Padel is relatively new and this racket sport is typically played in doubles on an enclosed court, a third of the size of a tennis court.

It bears a lot of similarities to tennis. For instance, the scoring is the same and the balls used are similar. But Padel is more about strategy than strength. Unlike in a game of tennis where physical power is dominant, this sport focuses on fun and social interaction and it’s easy for anyone to pick up.

It’s not only competitive and addictive, it’s ideal for anyone. Irrespective of genders, age and fitness, you can attempt a game of padel. It’s one of the world’s fastest growing sports.

The biggest differences are that in Padel, the court has walls for the balls to bounce off (similar to a squash court), and solid racquets without any strings, are used.

Padel Qatar introduced the sport to the country in 2017 with the first nine Padel courts. You can find these courts in various locations and sports clubs including Qatar Sports Club, Al Arabi Sports Club, Qatar Women Sports Committee, Al Wakrah Sports Club and Aspire Park.

The mission behind Padel Qatar is to spread the love for a new sport and contribute to making Qatar a happier and healthier society. It’s easy to learn and enjoy from the very first game and it’s addictive enough for you to want to keep learning and pushing yourself to master the sport.

You can book a court and if you’re a group of women, you can even request for a dedicated women-only court. Padel Qatar holds social tournaments regularly. Team building activities and customer experiences are offered for companies and if you have young children, you can opt for after-school timings and lessons for children of all ages.

Since this sounds like a great way to burn some calories and meet new people, there’s no reason you shouldn’t book a session now.
QR30 (racket hire), QR240 (per person, one hour court hire), QR390 (per person, one hour private lesson). Various locations.
