Spruce up your home by heading to these plant nurseries

One of the easiest ways to turn your house into a home in Doha is to spruce it up with houseplants.

Just a little bit of greenery will make a world of difference, and to help you out, we’ve rounded up some of the top places to pick out houseplants in Qatar.

Desert Green

If you’re willing to drive out to Al Khor, Desert Green is one of the biggest plant nurseries around. With rows upon rows of plants, you won’t struggle to find something perfect for your apartment here, particularly thanks to the friendly staff who should be able to help you pick out something nigh on unkillable if you’ve had trouble in the past.

Floranza International Nursery

You can combine your trip to IKEA with a trip to Floranza as one of its three branches is located near Doha Festival City. Inside, you’ll find pocket-friendly priced outdoor and indoor plants, plus all the gardening supplies you might need for looking after your new houseplants.

Mahaseel Festival

The Mahaseel Festival at Katara Cultural Village is over for another year, but the market will continue on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays until mid-May. Most of the festival focuses on fresh fruit and veg from local farms, but you’ll also be able to pick out plants and flowers, as well as gardening tools and fertiliser.

Orbee Plants

While you can pay a visit to Orbee Plants in Al Thumama, you can also order your fill online. There are plenty of options, and if you’re just getting started, you can pick out a hardy cactus or a succulent. And if you’re just looking for a pop of colour in your home, Orbee Plants also imports fresh cut flowers from around the globe.

Plaza Hollandi

With nine stores across the major shopping malls in Doha, including Doha Festival City, Lagoona Mall and Mall of Qatar, you’re never too far from a Plaza Hollandi. Which is great news for plant lovers, as you can pick up everything from bonsai trees and hydrangeas to orchids and monsteras.

The Garden Centre

Another well-priced option for those after houseplants in Doha, The Garden Centre sells planters, seeds, garden tools and more. After a visit here, your home will be transformed into a sea of greenery.

Top tip: Your can buy your houseplants from Facebook groups

One of the best places to find plants that won’t cost you a bomb is through Facebook. While there are groups purely for gardening tips, you’ll also spot expats selling their indoor plants in pages for local communities, such as The Pearl-Qatar, or for different nationalities living in the city.
