Time Out Says

zengo has the brilliant advantage of being on the 61st floor of the Kempinski Residences tower and as soon as you enter the restaurant, the ambience is positively overwhelming. Floor-to-ceiling windows everywhere ensure the best views of Doha at night (even the afternoon views are exquisite with Doha’s glimmering turquoise waters) and the dimly lit atmosphere is wonderfully inviting.

From the moment we’re greeted and escorted to our table to the actual service, Zengo seems to excel in this department. The servers are knowledgeable, friendly and very courteous. The avian-themed interiors are something we never tire of and even though there’s a lack of liveliness with only a few tables occupied, the chance to have an intimate conversation is welcomed.

We start off with the chicken wings which are definitely the dish of the night. It’s unique and has nice, tangy, Asian flavours that we love. The dish comes with a coriander and jalapeño sauce on the side, giving the perfect amount of heat. This easily passes off as a well-balanced dish that we can’t seem to get enough of.

The maki rolls and sushi here never disappoint – everything is beautifully presented with edible flowers even. For mains we try the kung pao prawns which surpass our expectations in terms of taste and quality. Simply put, this is the perfect pan-Asian experience.
