The interiors are typical steakhouse style – dimly lit, a blend of brick and leather and very masculine steel chains. There is a small seating area outside the restaurant in the mall that overlooks the streets.
Interestingly, the menu has lots more to offer than just the items on sale. You get to see the calories in every cut based on the weight, where the meat comes from and even a diagram of the various meat cuts where each one is explained. Aside from an extensive drink menu, pastas and burgers are served, too.
As soon as we are seated, a welcome platter arrives to the table consisting of pita bread topped with oregano and a delicious butter on the side.
The Adriana watermelon salad recommended by the host is an excellent choice for starters. Marinated watermelon with grilled halloumi cheese already make an interesting mix of flavours and textures but the added baby leaves, sundried tomatoes, olives and walnuts, tossed in raspberry balsamic reduction is just the recipe for a top salad.
The crispy chilli jumbo shrimps are delightful. The shrimps are marinated in spicy yuzu, breaded with homemade tempura. The tempura feels slightly soggy and lacks a certain crunch.
The dish portions and presentations, though, are on point. And to top the experience the service is knowledgeable, courteous and very efficient.
Now, the real deal. The steak menu is divided into Australian Angus beef varieties and American-Certified Angus beef options. We choose one from each – the New Yorker steak with creamy garlic sauce and a side of roasted herbed potatoes and lamb cutlets with a mixed peppercorn sauce and a side of onion rings. The meat arrives on time, cooked exactly how we want it and is melt-in-your-mouth tender and juicy.
We can’t emphasise enough on this top-notch experience and if it isn’t for these stupendous steaks, we’d be back for the superior service.
