Time Out Says

The sheer size of Teatro’s menu is almost overwhelming. Sushi rolls, pasta, wood-fired pizzas, Malaysian noodles, Indian curries, dim sum, tandoori dishes – the variety is huge. Jack of all trades, master of none, as the saying goes – but on our visit, everything we try is difficult to fault.

The deliciously fresh yellowtail tartare is delicately marinated in a tom yum sauce and served in crispy mini taco shells with avocado. The Malaysian laksa is a similar hit − rich, creamy and stuffed full of noodles, beansprouts and lightly-poached prawns. Our only complaint is that the sauce could have been thinner and soupier. The pizza is also tasty, with a perfectly charred crust, though the rest isn’t quite as crisp.

The dining room is vast, with plush carpets, chandeliers, theatre-themed décor and a walk-in grape cellar. It’s fun, even a little ostentatious, but not at all unpleasant. An extremely talented musician sings soulful tunes in the lounge which drifts throughout the venue, while later on a DJ livens things up.

The food is fantastic, and the atmosphere on-point, even on a quiet evening. It’s perhaps the best of City Centre Rotana’s restaurants so far, and its myriad cuisines make it the ultimate crowd-pleaser.

The bottom line
Excellent food and jazzy setting. Perfect for a fun evening out.
