Santa Monica Breakfast Club

Fun and filling dishes have transformed the Grand Hyatt’s all-day venue

Time Out Says

Formerly The Grill, Santa Monica Breakfast Club has given the Grand Hyatt’s all-day restaurant a new lease of life.

It now has an identity all of it’s own. A colourful, fun diner, with décor and food based on the Californian city that gives the venue its name.

It’s perhaps too hot now, but the outdoor terrace and bar area is great (so keep it in mind for September) and the indoor area, with murals, DJ booth and dart board is a more pleasant place to sit than before (and the full makeover hasn’t finished yet).

When it comes to food, turn up hungry and give the calorie-counting a miss for the day.

As you might expect there are plenty of eggs and all-day breakfast dishes (check out the pancakes) on the menu and the pizzas are also cracking, but we’re big fans of the burgers. Make sure you check for specials, too.

The Greek-influenced lamb burger is pink and juicy (perhaps a little too much for some, but not us) and comes with a lovely feta and tomato topping and tzatziki sauce. A winner. The fish burger also hits the spot. Fries could be better – they’re all crunch and no fluffiness at the moment, but it’s all good value and done very well.

A top addition to the Hyatt.

The bottom line

A great spot for a fun lunch or dinner.
