Time Out Says

The Royal Tandoor has an enviable position on the main thoroughfare in Souq Waqif. It’s an area that’s bustling any night of the week and brimming with atmosphere, so a great location for tempting diners in from the street. Not that this restaurant needs to, as it seems to have a band of loyal followers. The Royal Tandoor’s interior feels welcoming and cosy, with large drapes separating the tables. Although the menu oddly displays hummus and shrimp salad next to Indian samosas, the Indian food is well worth it. The murg tikka lababdar – soft pieces of chicken tikka in a creamy tomato and onion sauce – is fantastic, as is the black lentil dal makhani. Portions are hearty and prices are more than reasonable, and they know their stuff: dishes aren’t swimming in oil and things are delicately flavoured. And, should you become as addicted as we have, they even deliver.
