A happy stopover through the sweet life

Time Out Says

An adorable but plush looking café, you can’t miss the luxury chandeliers of Life with Cacao from a distance. We’re expecting nothing less than treats fit for royals.

We start savoury with a steak salad. It’s unique and incredibly tasty with light, refreshing flavours from the honey-sesame dressing and the parmesan cheese. The Angus beef is well-marinated and very tender and surprisingly does not overpower the salad. The chicken wrap is delicious with roasted chicken, peppers and avocadoes and even though the lettuce is a bit too much, the sauces overpower the taste of lettuce and balance it out. The turkey lasagne is next up and based on evidence so far, we’re sure it’s going to be a bit. It’s excellent. Turkey ham is layered between béchamel sauce and a creamy, red sauce, it’s zesty and comforting at the same time.

Word of advice: skimp on the mains and save room for dessert. The peanut butter chocolate pudding is stunning. Soft cake is filled with gooey peanut butter and topped with chocolate ice cream, caramel and chocolate sauce. If that’s not indulgent enough, toffee chunks and caramelised peanuts are thrown around, too. Every bite is loaded with hot and cold and sweet and salty flavours. This is the best dessert we’ve had in a while.

The bottom line
Some of the best desserts in town are here.
