Le Vesuvio

Authentic Italian pizzeria with an upscale touch in Katara Cultural Village

Time Out Says

The logo of the original le Vesuvio in Cannes, France is emblazoned across the menus and wood-fired brick oven, slightly helping to explain why the pizzeria lists everything in French. But make no mistake: this is Italian fare through and through. Your bresaola pizza and calzones are prepared in the show kitchen, filling the restaurant with a smoky, if not tantalising aroma. The pastas are made on site and served in no less than a dozen sauces and shapes, including ravioli, lasagne and gnocchi. While the indoor seating teeters on the formal with unusually broad, plush chairs, the al fresco dining area on the roof is ideal for a more casual meal. Some tables even afford great views of the sea. And this is one restaurant outing where you won’t want to leave the kids at home as there’s a special menu for tots. If all else fails, brandish the restaurant’s secret weapon: Nutella pizza!
