Okonomiyaki or sukiyaki, you’ll find all the Japanese classics here

Time Out Says

A quaint little Japanese diner that almost feels authentic sits between a few, more popular, restaurants on Porto Arabia. The décor is slightly cliché – artificial cherry blossoms and large wooden bamboo stalks everywhere, but we’re not complaining. We love how well lit the place is; it makes for a great lunch spot.

The menu is spot on, with all the popular Japanese favourites from sushi to sukiyaki, even written in Japanese. We settle on tropical sushi, a delicious and very summery roll that stands out with mango on top. The crab salad is delightfully fresh and light with the spicy dressing adding a much needed kick.

The okonomiyaki, more popularly known as the Japanese pizza, tastes nothing like a pizza, but is easily one of their most flavourful dishes. This Japanese pancake tastes best with beef. The dish has an overwhelmingly strong and unpleasant smell from generous amounts of dried fish on top. The taste is, however, different and not fishy at all. It has a nice crunch. The sukiyaki is almost traditional, but not really. The dish isn’t prepared at your table and, no, you don’t get to beat an egg in your bowl or let the beef simmer in hot broth. The overall experience is worth coming back for.

The bottom line

A casual spot with great authentic fare.
