Juice Zone

What do we think of this new mall pitstop?

Time Out Says

Billing itself as a ‘fresh and healthy’ café, Juice Zone seems a welcome addition to the fat-saturated fast food market in Doha. The global chain has set up a very bright little outlet in Hyatt Plaza food court next to Jungle Zone play area. Hyatt Plaza has one of the better food courts in Doha (never thought I’d be praising mall food courts) with huge windows, so, unlike a lot of malls here you don’t feel like you are eating in a cave. With a display full of fresh fruit, Juice Zone looks great. Shame the food doesn’t quite live up to expectations. First off, at 1pm on a Sunday they had no wraps available, so there goes half the food menu. So we went for paninis (QR20) instead. The ‘Italian’, with mozzarella, sundried tomatoes and basil was quite nice even though the cheese was very plastic. But the ‘Mediterranean’ was far from sunny: the ‘roast chicken’ was actually tasteless processed meat straight out of a packet, and overall was very bland.

Fortunately they do much better on the juices, and the Mango Madness (QR20 for a large size) – a blend of mango juice, non fat yoghurt and banana – was really good, and the freshly squeezed orange juice was excellent. We can’t fault the frozen yoghurt (QR10) either, with various fresh fruit toppings, nuts and sauces to choose from (QR3 each) it seems decadent, but is actually fat free. It’s also really tasty, with a creamy tanginess. The staff were helpful and service was fast, but the quality, and availability, of the ingredients was a little disappointing. It’s a good effort, but we couldn’t help feeling the Juice Zone must try harder.

The bill (for two)
1x Italian panini QR20
1x Mediterranean panini QR20
1x Mango Madness drink QR20
1x Frozen yoghurt QR10
Total QR70
