Isla Mexican Kitchen

We go loco for this tasty churro bowl

Isla Mexican Kitchen

We’ve always loved Isla Mexican Kitchen’s guacamole (and always will, we imagine). But now, there’s an all-new, eye-catching and palate-pleasing menu that we want to tell you about.

It stars tortas (Mexican burgers), which are real crowd-pleasers, and there are chimichangas, empanadas (the veggie ones are amazing) and a super-tasty chamarro de corderro (lamb shank) to get excited about. But it’s the incredible array of desserts that have piqued our interest, namely the churros. These aren’t new to the menu, but the team have taken them up a notch.

Our highlight dish this month is the churro bowl, pictured above. Not only does it look fantastic, but every bite is incredibly decadent. It’s churro dough, moulded into the shape of a bowl and filled with three scoops of ice cream. The dish is topped off with bananas and strawberries, and then cocoa powder and cinnamon sugar are also thrown in. Finally, it’s drizzled with chocolate sauce.

While you’re indulging in the best form of processed sugar, listen to the live music on the terrace overlooking Porto Arabia and the sea. You’ll also be happy to know that you can ask for a 20 percent discount if you’re a resident of The Pearl, and if you want to devour the whole thing in the comfort of your own home, Isla will even deliver the churro bowl to you.

But book a table with your amigos, we say, and tuck in. Though, we doubt this is something you’ll want to share…
