Time Out Says

This Canadian import will either sound gimmicky, or like the best thing since sliced eggs (depending on your affinity to the breakfast table staple).

But whatever your opinion on the necessity of having nine different kinds of eggs Benedict on a menu (for the record, we think this should be more common), Eggspectation is a crowd-pleasing spot.

There isn’t much to recommend in terms of décor. It’s a fairly plain, characterless space, but food is tasty, fresh and reasonably priced, while the health-conscious will appreciate the opportunity to swap the side of potatoes for fresh fruit or “ancient grains”. You can also opt for more egg-white and less yolk, and gluten-free bread. There are plenty of egg-less dishes available, such as soups, sandwiches and flatbreads. But eggs are, unsurprisingly, worked into the majority of dishes, whether that’s feta cheese omelettes, a salad, a steak, a burger or grilled chicken, plus there’s a huge section dedicated to sweet and savoury pancakes, French toast and even fried chicken and waffles. None of which should disappoint. At the very least, it’s a dependable café for an all-day breakfast.

The Bottom Line

A fairly plain and simple setting, but eggcellent food. (Sorry, we couldn’t resist).
