This burger joint serves up a slab of vintage Americana

Time Out Says

There might be something a little odd about putting a burger place in a park used mainly for healthy exercise but then again where better to work off those calories straight after, right? Plus, any standalone venue that isn’t a franchise gets points in our books.

Inside and out, Burgerry has a vintage theme going on. There’s a couple of old school cars parked right outside and inside there are other cool antique pieces. Overall, the interior has quite an industrial look and music videos play in the background via a projector. I like it and I feels as though I’m hanging out in 1950s America. It’s swell.

The menu, which is scribbled on a chalk board over the kitchen, is quite small and this is when we notice an issue – there is nothing for vegetarians. While some of you may argue there doesn’t need to be, this reviewer and his non-meat eating friend beg to differ. In this day and age it certainly doesn’t do any harm to have the option at least (and not just the bun with salad that was offered).

So it looks like it’s on me… I go all out and pluck for the B.Majestic wagyu single patty burger, regular hot dog with a side of sweet potato fries and mint lemonade. My friend also tries some chips and a chocolate ice cream shake.

We both agree, the fries are absolutely delectable – crispy yet fluffy, albeit a tad too salty, but overall very moreish. The drinks are fantastic – especially the chocolate shake which is thick but not too rich – and the hotdog is tasty, particularly when topped with a mixture of the sauces you can choose from, which include chipotle, ranch dressing, ketchup and American grain mustard.

The burger, however, while nicely portioned (go for two if you’re too hungry!) was burnt on one side and not as succulent as I was hoping it to be. Perhaps I should have sprung for the double patty?

Overall, it has potential but needs a little tweaking. We were both left a little wanting but the deliciousness that is the sweet potato fries would lure us back for a quick snack. It is also reasonably priced in comparison to most.

Now I want to try the cheesecakes but I might need to take a different friend!
