Bentley's Grill

A romantic, quiet steakhouse with good steaks

Time Out Says

In the myriad of dining options in the Radisson Blu Doha is the charming Bentley’s Grill, a warm, romantic steakhouse tucked away in a quiet corner of the hotel. A pleasant smile greets us on arrival as we are escorted to a very spacious table. We sink into brown leather armchairs. Soon we’re distracted by paintings of horses and the Lords and Ladies of the English countryside. The staff, meanwhile, bring a delicious complimentary salmon and garlic bread dish.

The menu is thankfully simple to navigate, spanning only four pages. The starters are wide-ranging and also offer several vegetarian and seafood options. We begin with the fin tartare, a light and fragrant yellow fin dish served on a bed of crispy noodle sticks and salsa. It’s a refreshing and delicate start to the meal without being too punchy. The pan-seared scallops arrive next, cooked to perfection. The green pea sauce is generous and complements the dish very well, along with a crisp side of beef.

Bentley’s speciality is its wide selection of steaks competing for your attention from fillet mignons and rib eyes to tenderloins and tomahawks. Along with Australian wagyu, you can also opt for the prime grade US Angus beef. We decide on the Angus tenderloin, served with a side of garlic butter. The dish smells wonderful when it’s brought out. It’s plated with finesse and without any unnecessary flourishes. The tenderloin is cooked medium rare with more emphasis on the rare. The meat is tender, well-seasoned and rich with flavour. The sides of mashed hash browns and seasonal vegetables are generous enough that we don’t need any extra sides. The rib eye is a juicy, fatty and hearty slab of meat that fills the belly wonderfully.

At this point we are in a state of steak-fuelled slumber but our waitresses are at hand to provide us with a sugar hit before we sink any further into these armchairs. A complimentary shot of frozen berries in hot white chocolate sauce warms our taste buds along with a selection of hand-crafted chocolates. Opt for one of the homemade ice creams or a classic molten lava chocolate cake for dessert.

If you’re looking for a quiet, hearty, non-pretentious meal filled with flavourful meats, this is the spot.
