Artisan De La Truffe
Time Out Says
It’s hard to miss the place, given the prominent location, but just in case you can’t find Qatar’s first exclusive truffle restaurant, it’s on the ground floor of Tawar Mall.
Black couches are paired with light wood tables and the walls feature intricate pictures of truffles split up into differently sized gold frames. It’s quite stylish, we think.
The menu quickly arrives and for anyone who’s not so well versed in the origin of truffles it probably makes for interesting reading. There’s an entire section on the kinds of truffles served and where they come from.
We keep our order simple (if fancy) – a buratta with truffle to start, and a lobster au-gratin with truffle to follow.
The burrata is delicious with strong truffle scents, and refreshing with a selection of old-fashioned tomatoes. The half lobster is oven-grilled and comes with a side of risotto with truffle. The dish is on the saltier side but tastes great. The lobster meat is tender, juicy and creamy and ideal for one person.
As you might expect, the restaurant is slightly pricey, but it’s reasonable given the quality of food. There’s also a lunch menu to try for QR105.
If truffle is your thing, then you probably have to try this place at least once.
