Heralding itself loudly as ‘the best restaurant in Qatar’, it's good, but maybe not quite as blow-your-socks-off amazing as the hype. The only restaurant on the Corniche, the setting is stunning – if you sit outside. On the terrace you’re practically in the water, the warm Gulf breeze ruffling your hair and the sweeping views of West Bay a must for visitors, newbies and long-term expats alike. The food is good: the lamb chops are some of the best we’ve had, and so is the hummus, muhummarah as well as the selection of Lebanese salads. However, they’ve crammed their menu with incongruous Western dishes that never live up to the standard set by the Lebanese options. And service is hit and miss, either excellent or nonexistent. It's handy to bring someone who already knows Lebanese food, as the waiters won't be able to explain the menu. As excellent as the food and atmosphere are, they are overshadowed by the price – there's a minimum charge of QR100 per person. Portions are generous, but you'll be drowning in food to meet that. You have to commit to a large and pricey meal to enjoy the view, which makes what should be a regular Doha haunt, or even a light spot for a juice and shisha while on the Corniche, an only-with-guests option. It should be a jewel in Qatar's dining crown, if only they'd relax a bit. That said, their lamb chops are stunning.
