Time Out Says
We like Trader Vic’s. There, we said it. A Polynesian-themed chain with outlets around the world is not the height of sophistication and fine dining. But let’s be honest – if you seek fine dining sophistication it tends not to be found in a Polynesian-themed chain. First up we need to talk about the setting. Out on a jetty in the Arabian Gulf looking eitherout to sea or back at the Hilton Doha it is a panoramic venue hard to match in all of Doha.
That, perhaps, is what attracts the lively crowds although that is probably as much to do with the famously large and imaginative mixed drink menu. Fruity concoctions come in a variety of shapes and sizes and many visitors come without ever sampling the food.
Which is to miss out on a selection of wok-fried dishes, wood-fired oven dishes and fried finger foods. All delivered in an environment not dissimilar to a Tahiti beach bar. Certainly one for your must-see list in Doha.
