Three things you’re enjoying doing at home right now

Well this might sound boring for a chef, but I am actually keeping myself busy cooking – but I am trying out new ingredients and creative cooking styles, so I might have new things to offer our clientele when we get back to normal.

I am also devouring a whole load of cultural and culinary documentaries on TV, getting to understand the tastes and cooking styles of various cultures and what has influenced them. These are things we chefs always want to do but are usually too busy to be able to catch up on – now I have the time.

I also like listening to music and discovering new genres from all parts of the globe. I usually listen to music while I’m cooking – the two go well together as they both excite the senses.

Your top recommendation to order home delivery from

Being a culture vulture, I would order from any of the restaurants in Souq Waqif because of the sheer variety of cuisine that this outstanding destination offers. However, my preference is for home-cooked food.

The first thing you’re looking forward to doing when this is all over

I am really looking forward to inviting friends over so I can try out some of my new recipes on them and get their feedback before introducing them to our guests. I can imagine the evening would have a sort of celebratory atmosphere as people look back and reflect on their ‘stay at home’ experiences, the whole COVID-19 era and how it has changed their outlook on life. It’s going to be a really interesting evening.
