The Doha Burger Festival returns

There are few things that we’re absolutely certain about when it comes to eating out in Doha – you can always get an excellent cup of coffee and you’ll always find a burger spot. Everywhere.

After trying more than a 100 different type of burgers in the city (yes, our gym bills are quite high), we’ve finally decided that running around didn’t work well with eating massive amounts of carbs.

So we’re happily preparing for Doha Burger Festival, the city’s first and largest gastronomic festival dedicated to all things burger related, which takes place this month starting Thursday December 19.

It’s the third edition and it’s on until Saturday December 28. Organised by Cosette Solutions, this year’s festival will be bigger and much better.

From noon to midnight, you can wander around Aspire Zone, across 40 different booths selling the most succulent and tasty burgers in town.

There’s no entry fee (thankfully) and the festival is an interactive affair where you can not only meet fellow burger aficionados, but also have a chance to win daily prizes and giveaways courtesy sponsors such as Vodafone and Qatar Insurance Company.

While you’re busy deciding if you’re a regular cheeseburger person or a creative biryani burger person, there will be live entertainment for the entire family including games, performances, shows and other activities.

If you’re as serious about your burgers as we are, you might want to enroll in the burger eating competition.

Running for four days – three days of heats and accumulating into the finals on the fourth day – the timed competition will see the overall winner not only leaving with a full stomach but also walking away with top prizes from the key sponsors.

Just come hungry. And if you see anyone with a face full of mayochup and lettuce, that’s probably us.
Free entry. Dec 19-28, noon-midnight. Aspire Zone, www.burgerfestival.qa.
