Richard Sandoval recently visited Doha to launch new menus in his restaurants Toro Toro, Zengo and Maya.
The three restaurants, which fall under the Richard Sandoval Hospitality Group by chef Sandoval, combine authentic Latin ingredients with international flavours and inventive techniques to create new and unexpected concepts and cuisines such as modern and coastal Mexican, Latin-Asian, Peruvian and pan Latin.
During his visit to Doha, Sandoval hosted the launch of the new and exciting Saturday Callejero - Street Food Night at Maya Restaurant and Lounge.
Saturday Callejero is a new concept inspired by the street food scene in Mexico City. The new menu which will be available every Saturday at Maya was inspired by Maya’s resident chef Sergio and his origins in Mexico City.
The cuisine, which you should eat with your hands, is growing in popularity and features favourites such as corn on the cob, hibiscus tinga tostada (crispy corn tortilla), pambazo and sope de suadero.
Sandoval said, "It is always exciting to spend a few days in Qatar and see-first-hand the vibrant dining scene in Doha and the great new restaurants and concepts coming to this wonderful city. The team, our guests and the ambience were all amazing and I am humbled with the feedback I received on the new menus. I look forward to coming back and continuing to bring Doha the flavours of the Latin and pan-Asian world like never before.”
Sandoval also launched a new menu at Toro Toro, executed by new head chef Edgar Hurtado.
This Latin American restaurant is now open for lunch on Saturdays from noon to 4pm with a newly created set menu and a la carte options, in a family-friendly atmosphere.
Toro Toro is a creative blend of pan Latin styles and flavours, one of the most successful and growing food concepts in the world.
The restaurant showcases genuine recipes from Brazil to Peru. You can enjoy the scrumptious small dishes or the sharing platters, ideal for when you’re with family and friends.
Inspired by Sandoval’s world travels and the ancient spice routes from Asia to the Far East, Zengo offers a unique spin on pan Asian cuisine with a variety of fishes from sushi, sashimi and hand-crafted dim sum to curry dishes, grilled entrees and wok dishes.
Head chef Marko Maric and Sandoval have been busy working on a revamped menu for Zengo which will be available in the coming weeks.
Bojan Petrovic, general manager of Richard Sandoval Hospitality in Doha said, “Toro Toro, Zengo and Maya have always been favourites in Doha, and we believe that Chef Richard’s visit and the new menu and opening times will make these the top spots for Latin American, Mexican and pan Asian contemporary cuisine.”
That’s three new menus to try in three incredible dining destinations. Looks like we’ve got a busy weekend ahead.
