Three late night drive-by food trucks in Doha

After a long night of partying (or not), you’re going to want a quick bite to eat and you’re probably bored sick of the late night shawarmas. Drive past one of these food truck open into the wee hours of the night and try a few delicious dishes.

Exit 55
This food truck located at Qatar Handball Association has some of the best takeaway burgers in town. And even though dynamite shrimp is officially done to death (thanks to almost every casual restaurant in Doha serving it), the one served at Exit 55 is pretty good. If you want to try something different for a change, order the maple shrimp. If you’re not sure what to order, we highly recommend the Tex-Mex burger and the old school cheeseburger. Exit 55 even has a version in iceberg lettuce. This food truck is open until 4am, so there’s plenty of time for a quick burger fix.
Open daily noon-4am. Dafna (4490 9555).

Pause Time Café
We have no idea why this food truck is called Pause Time. It’s probably because time does stand still for about three seconds, as soon as we take the very first bite of their cheese and chips paratha. Located in The Pearl-Qatar, just behind WOQOD, this little spot serves very reasonable midnight snacks and our favourite has to be the paratha rolled with cheese, egg and Oman chips (it’s a combination you’ll absolutely love) for only QR6. There are other things on the menu, too, including a few hot and cold drinks, but our order here is almost always fixed.
Open daily 7am-2am. The Pearl-Qatar (3339 8336).

This has nothing to do with the famous regional chain of Salt. It’s still pretty good. Salt mostly serves sliders, including a breakfast variety served from 9am until noon. The Original sliders are the best – wagyu beef patties with a house sauce in the softest buns you’ll find. There’s also a chicken Cheetos burger that we love (served with a spicy sauce). And if you want something sweet after your meat, there’s a must-try brownie-flavoured softy ice cream.
Open daily 4pm-2.30am. Qatar Handball Association (7734 3875).
