Fancy some cuttlefish salad and paella arancini while listening to contemporary tunes, as a beautifully dressed performer (possibly with a lamp on her head) sashays past you? Then you’re in luck because the Pearl at Illusion has just opened, and it is a real stunner!
The setting is glamorous, yet satisfyingly laid-back, with bespoke décor and soft furnishings. There’s a circular bar right in the centre, surrounded by leather chesterfields. You can easily tell this is for the discerning and those with real class.
Illusion’s resident DJ Chicco (what’s in a name?) completes the ambience with tunes to suit every mood, every night. And while you sink into their glorious leather and watch live entertainment at its best, the menu is an absolute must try.
This opulent den has a menu bursting with sunbaked, sea-washed flavours of the Mediterranean. The selection is sectioned into cold, hot, salad, risotto, seafood, meat, pizza and dessert, so you’ll almost always find something new to taste. Try the fish skewers for two, with tuna, swordfish, calamari, prawns, beetroot or the crazy mushrooms pizza. You can’t go wrong with ingredients like forest mushrooms and mozzarella. Another new item on the menu is the tagliata di manzo with grilled sliced ribeye beef fillet, zucchini purée and a cheese croquette. The mixer-style is classic with a vintage touch and high-end silver-service.
Every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, they have a pretty sweet deal. From 6pm until closing, for every two mixed beverages, guests will get free appetisers.
Every Thursday and Friday, the entertainers walk around and engage with guests and here’s something to thank us for telling you – you can even take pictures with them! Great music, live entertainment and excellent food at a location to remember? Looks like our weekend nights are sorted.
Free entry. Mon-Sat 6pm-2am. Illusion, Marsa Malaz Kempinski (4035 5757).
