A Night with Nat King Cole

Time Out Doha announce details of live jazz in Doha at Grand Hyatt’s Isaan restaurant, with David Tughan in tribute to Nat King Cole

A Night with Nat King Cole

If you’re a jazz-lover you’ll know that there’s no shortage of destinations in Doha to get your dose of Dixieland. Spots such as Jazz at Lincoln Centre and many of the city’s Friday brunches produce some of the best in swing and soul. But, if you find yourself wanting that little extra something, then you’re in for an absolute treat this Thursday. For one night only, the Grand Hyatt hotel’s Isaan restaurant plays host to David Tughan in tribute to one of the all-time greats, Nat King Cole. Fan favourites such as Unforgettable and When I Fall in Love are sure to make an appearance as we remember a true legend. Order yourself a selection of Isaan’s delicious little sharing plates, and settle in for an evening of fantastic food and music.

After studying at the renowned Guildhall School of Music & Drama, David Tughan – who will be performing alongside Tim Lapthorne on the piano – has had a career where in which he’s worked with the brightest British musicians for 20 years. Although he’s got a soft spot for the ‘oldies’, don’t expect an evening of complete nostalgia. David often incorporates musical looping into his sets (recording individual vocal extracts and building up these layers to create musical masterpieces) and he enjoys musical improvisation, giving his performances an unpredictable and exciting vibe.

Free for those dining at Isaan. Thu Mar 31, 8.30pm-11pm. Isaan, Grand Hyatt Doha, West Bay Lagoon (4448 1250).
