This is great news ahead of the flood of visitors for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 later this year.
Hamad International Airport has been named the World’s Best Airport at the 2022 World Airport Awards held in Paris on Thursday June 16.
This is the second year running that Hamad International Airport has received this accolade.
Other airports in the region also received some accolades, with King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh being named the World’s Most Improved Airport.
While further afield, Istanbul Airport won the title for the World’s Best Airport Shopping.
Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Chief Operating Officer at Hamad International Airport, said of the win: “We are thrilled that Qatar’s main gateway to the world has once again been named the world’s best airport at the 2022 World Airport Awards – adding another milestone achievement to HIA’s history.
The World Airport Awards from Skytrax are the most prestigious for the industry, and are decided by votes that come in through the largest global airport customer satisfaction survey.
Over 550 airports were in the running for the title, with their customer service and overall facilities under assessment.
The win comes at an ideal time for Hamad International Airport in Doha as Qatar is all set to host FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, beginning in November.
Edward Plaisted of Skytrax, said: “As the Official Airport Partner for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 we wish Hamad International Airport every success in helping to host this major event.”
