Amiri Diwan announces long weekend for Qatar National Day

Sunday December 19 has been declared an official holiday

The Amiri Diwan has declared Sunday December 19 an official holiday, giving residents and citizens in Doha a long weekend for Qatar National Day.

As Qatar National Day falls on a Saturday this year, Sunday will be an extra day off instead.

This Sunday will be the final public holiday of 2021, but don’t worry, because there’s plenty of extra breaks coming in 2022.

Qatar National Sports Day is always held on the second Tuesday of February – which will fall on February 8 in 2022 – and everyone has the day off and encouraged to get active.

There will also be public holidays for Eid al-Fitr, which is expected to fall between Monday May 2 and Thursday May 5 next year, and Eid al-Adha, which should fall between Saturday July 9 and Tuesday July 12.

Finally, there will be a public holiday on Sunday December 18 for Qatar National Day next year, too.
