Local farmers in Qatar to be supported by new initiative

Farmers in Qatar are getting a helping hand thanks to a partnership between the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and Mahaseel.

Contracts have been signed in advance to purchase vegetables for the 2020/2021 season, with the intention of setting guaranteed prices so the farmers can plan accordingly.

The produce included is tomatoes, cucumbers, green pepper, pepper, aubergine, Romain lettuce, American lettuce, sesame, parsley, mint, green onion and dill.

Signing the deal means farmers will get a fixed price for the goods, regardless of any change in market prices.

It's possible to sign up for the plan until October 31, 2020.
