Doha's malls and shopping complexes will reopen in four stages

Qatar has announced a four-phase strategy for the reopening of malls and shopping centres.

In a press conference by the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management, Saleh Majid al-Khulaifi, assistant undersecretary for Commerce Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), laid out the plans.

Phase one will begin on Monday June 15 and will see the partial opening of shops in malls.

Stores with a minimum area of 300 sq m will open at a maximum 30 percent capacity.

The second phase will begin on July 1, the third on August 1 and the fourth and final phase on September 1.

Those below 12 and over 60 will not be allowed in malls during phase one, and malls will continue to remain closed on Fridays and Saturdays.

Food courts, games arenas and cinemas will also not be open during the initial stages.

Everywhere must have sterilisation measures in place, everyone must wear a mask and temperature checks will be in place, with entry only allowed for anyone who's body temperature is less than 37.8C.
