We’ve got exciting really news for you. There’s a brand-new tramway located in Msheireb Downtown Doha and it’s fully operational.
The recently launched tramway connects all MDD, the world’s smartest and most sustainable city district. And what this means for us? Easy access to all of MDD’s different areas from hotels and coffee shops to museums and the Souq.
The tram is eco-friendly and is also accessible to those with special needs commuting across the downtown area.
There are nine stations and whether you’re visiting or residing there, you can find a tram car on the loop every six minutes, with a 400m hop-on/hop-off zone alongside the single 2km closed-loop track system.
All the tram cars are fully air-conditioned and incorporate special light-filtering glass panels which prevent over 90 percent of the heat from sunlight.
There’s level boarding at all stations and free on-board wifi. Another feature you’ll be really excited about is the unique open-air feature which allows it to be operated as an open-air car by removing the glass panels.
All areas are linked within 18 minutes and there’s a station at the Central Msheireb Metro Station on Qatar Rail, easily accessible across all three operating metro lines.
The stations are Sahat Al Nakheel Station, Wadi Msheireb Station, Galleria Station, Msheireb Prayer Station, Heritage Quarter Station, Al Baraha Station, Sahat Al Masjid Station, Al Kahraba Street Station and Al Mariah Street Station.
This is pretty exciting if you ask us, especially since some of our favourite restaurants and bars are located in MDD.
