If you’re passing through Hamad International Airport this month, you’re in for a visual treat. Passengers arriving, departing or transferring through HIA will get to see the biggest celebration of this season with the Summer in Qatar programme.
Hamad International Airport, in collaboration with Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC), Qatar Airways and Qatar Duty Free, is organising an array of summer activities and experiences across the terminals giving passengers the chance to experience Qatar’s rich hospitality and culture. Some of the activities include cultural excursions to world-class entertainment.
A heritage zone is located in Concourse B for passengers to experience and learn more about the Qatari culture and hospitality. In a traditional tent setting, activities include calligraphy writing and henna tattoos.
Passengers will also have the chance to see cultural handicraftsmen such as prayer-bead producers, basket weavers and pearl jewellery makers at work.
To add to the experience, magnificent live performances such as the horse dances (a traditional dance performed in a horse-shaped box decorated with coloured cloth, beads and gold jewellery), Funoon Bahria, Jalsat Tarab and live oud performances will also take place.
In Concourse C, there is a dedicated kids’ zone which caters to families looking for entertainment in the airport.
A variety of activities for children of all ages such as kids’ yoga, kite and paper plane making as well as a giant painting wall for kids to showcase their creativity are on offer.
And that’s not even the best part. Travellers can enjoy up to 60 percent off on their purchases when shopping from an extensive range of brands and products available at Qatar Duty Free.
Additionally, a stopover programme will allow passengers transferring for more than five hours to visit Qatar and experience more of its festivities.
It doesn't get better than this.
