Head to La Mer for a kid-friendly afternoon tea at the Ritz-Carlton

Disney dining at La Mer in Doha

Forget the posh, well-to-do afternoon teas of five-star hotels that you’re used to with fancy teas and saffron-infused scones. The Ritz-Carlton’s new event for kids is high tea with a difference: bright, colourful and featuring (drumroll, please), real life Disney princesses.

Girly as it may sound, boys with a love of Disney films are more than welcome to attend. A Disney princess will be there in full costume – the character changes every two weeks – to read a story to the kids. Stories on the agenda include Snow White, Rapunzel, The Jungle Book, Frozen and Cinderella.

But it’s not quite all play. In addition to listening to the stories and snacking on cake, the kids will be able to take part in traditional etiquette lessons, and learn the basics of formal table etiquette as well as the “proper” way to do afternoon tea – who knows, you parents might even learn a thing or two.
Food is just as kid-friendly and comes in the form of colourful cupcakes and classic finger sandwiches, with drinks choices including milkshakes, hot chocolate and fruit punch.

Plus, at the end of the afternoon, children will be able to get creative and design clothes for their favourite Disney character using slices of fruit, vegetables, flower petals and more that they will be able to take home afterwards.
QR95 per child. Wed and Thu, 3.30pm-6pm. Le Ciel in La Mer, The Ritz-Carlton Doha, West Bay Lagoon (4484 8000).
