All teachers in Qatar to be tested for COVID-19

Teachers across Qatar will be tested for coronavirus ahead of the reopening of schools, the Ministry of Education has announced.

All workers in schools will eventually be tested, but academic staff will be prioritised at first.

The Ministry of Public Health and Hamad Medical Corporation will examine all government employees, while private schools will arrange their own tests.

In a statement on Twitter, the MoE said, “The Ministry of Education stresses that all schools in the State of Qatar must follow the precautionary health measures to confront the Coronavirus (COVID-19), which were previously announced through the Ministry of Security and Safety Department.”

The news comes after it was announced that schools are set to adopt blending learning this term.

Kids will only return to school just once or twice or week, with the rest of their classes taking place at home.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) hopes the changes will mean students can attend basic classes and conduct laboratory experiments and tests.
