Doha school reopening details to be revealed in September

Kids in Doha are eager to get back to school, but full details of what the reopening will look like won’t be revealed until September, it has been announced.

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and Ministry of Education will have to assess schools and other educational institutions before they can welcome students again.

Options being considered include postponing the start of the full year, returning to distance learning, or returning some classes to study but not others.

The Ministry of Education wants to see if students have sufficient awareness and commitment to preventative measures, such as maintaining social distancing and wearing face masks.

Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani, the director of the Public Health Department at the MoPH, told Qatar Radio that the decision would be made by September 1.

He added, “There is no doubt that the important point is not to increase the number of positive cases of coronavirus.

“We are currently assessing the situation and schools that are adhering to the measures will also be evaluated with repeated checks from time to time for students and teachers so that there is a commitment to physical distance between students.”
