Winner Best Business Lunch La Varenne A great way to spend your lunch break is in this contemporary French brasserie, overlooking the city skyline as you tuck into delicious dishes from the weekly-changing menu. You can opt for two courses or three, but either way you have to save room for dessert and choose some sweets from the roaming trolley of sugary perfection. 28th floor, Tornado Tower, West Bay (4499 0680).
Highly commended Market by Jean Georges This three-course business lunch is a past Time Out Doha Restaurant Award winner and for good reason as it’s hugely popular among a chic work crowd. While the dishes do change, many come back by popular demand so no one minds the familiarity. Consider the stylish décor and cosmopolitan vibe, and it’s no wonder it’s always full. W Doha, West Bay (4453 5353).
Aroma Contemporary European haven Aroma offers a delectable three-course business lunch that is beautifully presented and packs a flavoursome punch. We particularly like that they have hearty but healthy options, plus the menu changes seasonally, always utilising top quality ingredients and benefitting from Kempinski’s culinary team’s skills. Kempinski, West Bay (4405 3325).
Nusantao A leisurely lunch on the terrace in finer weather at Nusantao is what tropical dreams are made of. There’s a spacious indoor section too with large open kitchens. We specifically like the fact that this business lunch is so flexible with a mix-and-match menu plus the six-course Chef Kato’s bento box. The food is all delightfully Asian with dishes from six cuisines to try. Four Seasons, West Bay (4494 8888).
Opal by Gordon Ramsay While the St Regis may be a little out of many-a workers’ ways, the lunch is worth putting in the distance as it offers contemporary British fare over three delicious courses in a menu that changes weekly. It’s casual-yet-fine dining with lovely outdoor terrace seating as well. St Regis Doha, West Bay Lagoon (4446 0106).
Spice Market Popular South East Asian restaurant Spice Market offers two great lunchtime deals. The regular three-course business lunch serves Asian favourites from the a la carte menu while a sushi package offers a range of sensational sushi and sashimi rolls, followed by a dessert. W Doha, West Bay (4453 5353).
The Cellar This down-to-earth Spanish restaurant offers an X’Press lunch that sees punters from all over the area pour in. You can pick from a range of options for starters and mains, and then from the trolley for dessert. It’s quick, it’s tasty and you get just the right portion sizes. Oryx Rotana, Umm Ghuwaylina (4402 3333).
Yum Yum The menu changes regularly for the business lunch at this European hot spot but each one is always filled with great meat, fish and vegetarian options that support fine dining with a very reasonable price tag for three courses. Plus, they donate profits to charity! K108 Boutique Hotel, Old Al Ghanim (4433 3000).
