Souq Waqif opens a brand new cinema
We’ve waited for this for a long time and the big news is finally here. Novo Cinemas has just opened its boutique cinema destination in the heart of Doha – Souq Waqif. One of the most bustling cultural hubs in the city, Souq Waqif is a unique marketplace and you can find everything from traditional garments and spices to handicrafts and souvenirs. With great food and beverage options, art exhibits, traditional elements and the best buzz in the city, the only thing lacking was a cinema, until now.
The state-of-the-art five-screen cinema, set in a historical location, features all the leading entertainment Novo is famous for and offers four standard theatres and one VIP seven-star screen – that’s 634 seats across five screens.
Ahmed Al Mulla, COO entertainment, Elan Group said: “The venue will maintain Novo Cinemas’ pioneering standards with the latest in cinema technology.”
Debbie Stanford-Kristiansen, CEO, Novo Cinemas commented: “As we continue to expand our presence in the Middle East, we strive to find original locations that are synonymous with Novo Cinemas’ ambition to provide exceptional cinema journeys to our visitors. The traditional and vibrant atmosphere of Souq Waqif provides the perfect venue for a Novo Cinemas boutique entertainment hub which will be an exciting addition to our collection. We pride ourselves on the bespoke designs of our cinemas that fully reflect and embrace the surroundings in their own unique way.
“We look forward to developing another aspect of culture in a neighbourhood that is already so rich with history.”
