Surely we’ve seen enough versions of the legendary outlaw by now? From 1908’s silent film, Robin Hood and His Merry Men to Ridley Scott’s 2010 version starring Russell Crowe, we’ve seen dozens of takes on the English folk tale (and the 1973 animated movie by Disney is still the best). This latest offering is from director Otto Bathurst (TV’s Black Mirror, Peaky Blinders) and stars Kingsman’s Taron Egerton. The case is strong, but the action looks cartoonish and the dialogue verging on the cheesy. It should be good fun, at least, and you won’t have to use any grey matter trying to work out what’s going on. Perfect for the festive holidays.
WHAT IS IT...
