The year, which will enhance cultural and artistic exchange, will feature a number of exhibitions, festivals and events in both countries.
Qatar’s Year of Culture programme launched in 2012, and this year’s partner is France.
Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatar Museum’s chairperson, said, “Qatar will host the next World Cup in 2022 and the USA will bring the next version to its grounds in 2026.
“Culture goes beyond the arts, it’s a measure of lifestyle that extends to all areas of life. We celebrate culture, sports, business, education, music and much more.
“I look forward to working on building on the existing strong relationship between our nations, and explore new opportunities together.”
Cultural institutions including Qatar's Ministry of Culture and Sport, Qatar Foundation, The National Tourism Council, Doha Film Institute, Qatar National Library and Katara will be involved in organising events.
In the past, Qatar has also partnered with Japan, the UK, Brazil, Turkey, China, Germany, Russia and India for the Year of Culture programme.
