When a swanky new hotel opens up there is plenty to get excited about. There are new restaurants, bars and fitness centres, not to mention that it will be another place for that staycation you’ve been promising yourself, but it also means something new for visitor, can often breathe new life into an area of town that has become a little bit boring, and even prompt other hotels to up their game.
And with the imminent opening of the Mondrian Doha, sister venue to the famed hotel in Hollywood’s Sunset Boulevard there are many reasons for Doha dwellers to be cheerful.
Set to open later this year, it has been designed by Dutch designer Marcel Wanders and as the picture, right, shows, it looks fantastic. The exterior is shaped like a falcon and the national bird of Qatar will be present inside the hotel, too.
Sam Nazarian, founder and CEO, said: “We are delighted to open our first hotel in the Middle East in Doha, which is one of the most dynamic cities in the region. I know that Mondrian Doha will be an incredible destination for international and local travellers alike. It will be also a fantastic destination for locals to experience all our culinary venues.”
Restaurants will include CUT by Wolfgang Puck and Japanese venue Morimoto Doha, Magnolia Bakery and an outlet specialising in Qatari cuisine.
