Megapolis on The Pearl

What to expect from Doha’s biggest entertainment centre

Megapolis on The Pearl

There are a number of unique things about Megapolis, not least that it’s the home of the only indoor golf simulator in Qatar. Due to open early this year, it’s a bowling alley, billiards room, a gaming arcade (complete with the latest PS4 and Xbox consoles), action zone and more, rolled into one, set to make life on The Pearl even more entertaining.

If you visit for just one thing, say we, it should be for the state-of-the-art simulators. Ever wanted to know what it’s like to fly an F16 fighter jet? Now’s your chance. Try your hand at real-time take-off and landing scenarios in a variety of aircraft including Boeing and Cessna models, or virtually step into the seat of an F1 car to feel the rush of adrenaline usually reserved for professionals like Louis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel. The F1 Race Simulators are replicas of those used by professional racing drivers for training, and the closest you’ll get to the real thing without giving up your day job.

But if you aren’t an adrenaline junkie there’s plenty more to keep you entertained on a rainy (read: scorching hot) day. The four karaoke rooms, for example, aren’t just your average booths with some cheesy pop tunes. These come tricked out with the latest tech including three-way speaker systems, 600w four-channel karaoke mixing amplifiers and wireless microphones.

If all that were not enough, there have been hints of 5D gaming technology, and a Doha branch of Cool de Sac (part restaurant, part kids’ activity centre, international branches of Cool de Sac have included Tetris-themed climbing walls, zip lines, mazes and toddler attractions.)
In a nutshell, it’s just what the families of Doha have been waiting for.
